Yeahhhh!  Voor de 1ste keer in de geschiedenis is een Belgisch Team Europese Kampioen Dragrace. Uitstekende resultaten, snelste tijden, beste kwalificaties, perfect team work, doorzettings vermogen, geen schade wat wil een team meer!!

Review 2018 / Previeuw 2019

 

Over the 2017 winter period we checked the car out, tagged everything and made some small updates. One of the most important updates was the clutch. After talking to Bob Molinari , our go to clutch expert , we decided to change our trusty clutch out for a new unit that has the center support bearing. This helps stabilize the clutch and it is a big help for the rear main bearing. With Molinari racing clutches we had a sponsor for the 2018 season! We changed some things on the fuel system and off course put it on the dyno @ DynoUnlimited. The changes proved to be worth some power and looked promising for the new season!

The season kicked off as always at the Main event at Santa Pod! We decided to do some test runs on the pro peak performance test day. Trying to find a new setup for the clutch, wich proved to be challenging. During qualifying we were plagued with tire shake , session 3 and 4 were a little better and we went 5.95 and 5.85 with a pedal, good enough for the number 5 spot..  For elimination round 1 we had to face Jurgen Nagel , after some brutal shake we lost both sprags in the trans and we lost first round..

Next stop on the tour was Tierp arena in Sweden. Hoping to do better than at Santa Pod we changed some things around and made the best of the conditions. Friday was a very cold day and both qualifying sessions were plagued with shake.

On Saturday we had 3 qualification rounds so we could get some more data . Q3 started with no sign off shake and leaving hard on the line and what looked to be a promising 5.5 run but the driver pulled the chutes to soon resulting in a 6.07, we are not running top fuel Sandro!  Q4 the car went for the centerline  and Q5 was a shaky run and resulted in a number 7 qualifying spot.

 

On Sunday we had to face Dennis Habermann , one of the fastest top alcohol dragsters running in Europe.  Unfortunately we gave this one away , the car rolled thru the beams , the cherry lit and our weekend was over.

 

Round 3 Alastaro! After looking over the data from Tierp we were confident we had found the issue that caused the car to shake and get loose. On Friday , after some rain, Q1 went better. We decided to make a 1000ft pass to check out how the car would react to the changes we made. It was a nice solid run with no shake and a clicked off early 5.70. Putting us in 4th position. The data looked good and it was the first run of the season with no shake.

Saturday we had some sun and cool air. The track looked good and we had 2 rounds to improve on the 5.70. Q2 was a stormer , the car launched hard , straight and stormed to a new 5.48 track record! Putting us in the No1 spot and making this the second track where we hold the record for an alcohol funny car! The last qualifying run the car drifted to the centerline and the run was aborted.

Round 1 on Sunday was a pedal fest between us and our good friend Ari Pietilä. Both cars went into shake but we managed to get to the stripe first! Round 2 we had a bye into the final , after some small shake and a pedal we managed to run a 5.75. It was not enough to get lane choice in the final where we had to face the No1 qualifyer Timo Habermann.

Round for @ Hockenheim was a hot one! The track was very slippery and our first run was a aborted 6.05. We made some changes to the car for round 2 and improved with a 5.60 @400kmh. Q3 and Q4 the car drifted and after a brief pedal resulted in a 5.76 and 5.71. We kept the number 1 spot and had to face Jurgen Nagel again on Sunday morning.

Elimination round 1 was a stormer! The car left straight and hard and the board showed another 5.49! Another Track record! Round 2 we had to face Timo again. We were confident to do better than at Finland. The car left good but drifted towards the centerline, we went shopping for timing cones so we were disqualified. Luckily the body had no damage but our weekend was over.

Round 5 and the second Tierp event. The weather looked good and it was a little cooler than Hockenheim.

Q1 was a nice base line , no shake and a nice clean 5.61. The car looked good and we made some changes after looking at the date. Q2 was even better. The car finally started to react to the changes we made, going 3.67 to the eight and a (dissapointing?) 5.54 to take the top spot! We found a cracked spark plug wich explained why the car slowed down.

 

Saturday we got 3 qualifying runs. Unfortunately we kept having spark plug issues , Q3 was a strong run till half track (3.66 tot the 8th) and a 5.60 , Q2 was a strong 3.65 to half track and a 5.54 to the quarter , with a broken plug! Q3 we dropped a cylinder on the hit , we went 3.86 and 5.83 on 7 cylinders. But most important we kept the No1 spot!

Saturday evening we decided to change the spark plug wires and boots to solve our cracking plug issues. We needed to be ready for round 1 on Sunday! We had to face Ari Pietïla in round 1. The car launched very aggressive with a .93 60Ft , 3.61 to halftrack and a very nice 5.47 to take the win!

Round 2 we had a bye run. We had some brake/clutch issue at the tree and almost rolled through the lights! The car left good but went for the centerline , a brief pedal and we managed to run a 5.71 to try and take lane choice for the final.

 

For the final we had to face Dennis Habermann . There was some rain before our run and the track got cold. We had the advantage on the tree but the car went into shake and turned for the wall. Sandro tried to steer it off but we swiped the wall , damaging the body and pulling the exhaust off the head. Luckily our driver was ok and the car is repairable. Luckily the chassis wasn’t hurt. Very frustrating end to the weekend but that’s racing!

We would like to thank the Tierp Arena safety crew, they were very helpful and respectful to get the car off the track.

 

It was a very short 2 weeks to get the car ready for the finals. Luckily we have some very good racing friends! Team Double Trouble stepped in and helped us get the body repaired and somewhat painted so it looked presentable at the finals. So thanks for that guys!

The 6th and final round off the season , the European finals @ Santa Pod. Ending the season where it started. Hoping to do better than the main event , we changed some things and hoped for a good weekend.

Q1 was a nice run after what happened at Tierp. A little bit of shake and an early shut off 5.72 at only 236mph. The data showed we needed to change some things on the clutch for the next round.

Q2 on Saturday morning the car was drifting towards the wall but nothing too wild , resulting in a very nice 5.502 and again the No1 qualifier spot!

Q3 was delayed for an oil down and it started to get dark. No worries there! The car left super hard with a 0.922 60ft (1st ever in Europe for an alcohol funnycar!) , some shake and a 5.4525.

Sunday morning we had to face Jonny Lagg. There was some rain and we had to wait a long time before we could run. The weather and the track conditions changed and 10min before we had to run the sun came out! The car launched hard but went into shake, we tried to recover but it was too late..

 The 2018 season was one with ups and downs , we made some fast runs , ran a few personal records (60ft , 1/8 mile) , we ran a 5.4xx on every track in Europe and are now record holder on 2 tracks (Hockenheim and Alastaro)

 

For 2019 we changed some small things on the car. We found more power on the dyno @ www.facebook.com/DynoUnlimited and we lost some weight on the car.

We are still looking for a Company that would like to support our team and have their name on the fastest  funnycar currently running in Europe!

5de ronde Tierp Zweden

Yes,  3de plaats in het klassement na de wedstrijd in Zweden en weer een 5.4 sec run tijdens de wedstrijd.

Nu deze prestatie herhalen in Santa Pod UK weekend van 6 -9  September en ons doel is bereikt om dit op elke track dit jaar te presteren.

Na heel wat hard werk is de FC  gerepareerd en alles staat klaar om in de truck te laden.

Iedereen heeft er zin in om nog een laatste keer dit jaar alles te geven en we hopen met goede prestaties af te sluiten.

Bedankt aan alle fans die naar Santa Pod komen om ons te steunen….

 

4de ronde Hockenheim

3de Ronde Alastaro  Finland

Na vele jaren was het team terug op de race track van Alstaro. Dit is ook de laatste keer dat er een Dragrace daar wordt georganiseerd. Met een tijd van 5.48 sec zette het team een track record en dit was genoeg als top qualifier aan de race te beginnen.

Met een bijna feilloos parcour belanden we in de finale waar wij met een tijd van 5.66 sec, hiervan moet 0.22 sec af getrokken worden, tegen een 5.44 sec verloren op reactie van Timo Habermann.

Toch niet ontevreden kijken we uit naar de volgende races:

Nitrolympx Hockenheim 17-19 augustus  ,   Tierp Zweden 24 - 26 augustus  ,  Finals te Santa Pod UK 7 - 9 september

Op dit moment staan we 4de in het kampioenschap.

Helaas lukte het niet om de afstelling van de FC en de nieuwe betonbaan met elkaar te verzoenen.

Wij kijken uit naar de 2de ronde in Tierp Zweden weekend 8-10 juni.

SEIZOEN 2017

Weekend van 8-10 September European Finals Santa Pod UK

Helaas was het weer bar slecht en konden er maar 2 qualificatie runs gereden worden ipv 4. Als 4de gequalificeerd begonnen we aan de eliminaties. 

Immense tire shake waardoor er geen zicht meer was op de track moest Sandro gas lossen en was het voorbij.

Wij kijken terug op een uitmuntend seizoen 2017, 4 wedstrijden gereden, waarvan 2 winnaars posities en 1 runner up.

Voornamelijk 5.5 sec runs gereden zonder schade dank aan DynoUnlimited. 5.5 sec run rijden in 2017 was ons grote doel.

Dit hebben we tot onze grote vreugde verbroken met een zeer lage 5.4 sec run, namelijk 5.44 sec/419km op de  1/4 mils.

Wij hebben de snelste Funny Car van Europa en zijn 0.02 sec verwijderd van het Europese Record.

1ste race voor Danny's Racing Team vanaf 19-21 augustus in Hockenheim. Blown Alcohol Hemi is getest op Dyno Unlimited van Danny Cars en het team is zeer tevreden. Dit weekend wordt de hemi volledig terug opgebouwd , opgestart en de truck geladen zodat we woensdag richting de aktie kunnen vertrekken. Donderdag is rustdag met enkel opbouw van de pit, opstarten van de FC en algemene keuring. Vanaf vrijdag nitro power...graag zien we jullie daar....
